Masterclass for TU Delft

The event was initiated by the Sterkstroomdispuut der Electrotechnische Vereeniging (SSD), as part of their excursion program. The event  was a collaboration between Damstra Laboratory and Eaton Industries (Netherlands) B.V., the latter being a  manufacturer of electrical switchgear and control gear for medium and low voltage applications, located at the same premises. The schedule of the day consisted of an introduction of Damstra Laboratory and Eaton, a lecture on the development of product standards, a guided tour in the Eaton facility and a demonstration at the Damstra Laboratory.

With over 80 years of electrical testing experience, test engineers at Damstra Laboratory gladly share their knowledge with the engineers of the future. In the attempt to improve the educational level of the visit, the process of “from developing standards to product certification” has been emphasized during presentations and  the demonstrations. And based on the feedback we can conclude that the program was well received and definitely adding value to the excursion.

For Damstra Laboratory this visit was a good trial run for the “masterclass”  in preparation in mind for future visits by students of Electrical Engineering. Good practices for an interesting company excursion include linking theory to practice and framed by the world of standardization.  And  as apotheosis an exploding  panel when design requirements are not met.
